Superintendent Mike Harvey and the School Committee are working on a strategic plan that will carry our school district forward for the next five years. He is looking for input from parents and other interested citizens. Now is your chance to shape the future of the district that your children will experience. Please come share your views and concerns and ask questions. There are two opportunities for you to do this next week. Please try to attend at least one:

Wednesday, June 12, 7 p.m. Middle School music room

Thursday, June 13, 7 p.m. Buker School multipurpose room

Healthy public schools require healthy town finances. To that end, we ask you as school supporters and community members to attend a special town meeting next Tuesday night, June 11, at 7:30 p.m. to consider whether the town should buy a parcel of land known as “the Pirie property.”

The politically neutral League of Women Voters is holding a forum for citizens to hear both sides of the issue and ask questions tonight, June 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Public Library.

You can also find more information about the proposal at (pro) and (con).

Special Town Meeting for Hamilton, which is the only time this issue will come before the voters, is next Tuesday night, June 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Winthrop School (please note change of venue — the meeting will be at Winthrop, not the High School). There will not be a ballot vote. If you want to vote on this issue, you must attend town meeting in person.

Thanks for considering these issues. Our kids, teachers and school community appreciate your attention.
