What’s Happening in the Budget Process?

The School Committee will host a forum to report on the Strategic Plan and its related financial plan on Thursday, November 29 at 7:00 pm at the Buker Multipurpose Room. This will be an important forum for community members to attend so they can become familiar with the scope of the plan and so the School Committee can hear their input regarding what is important to them.
The Town Finance Committees, the School Finance Sub-Committee and the School Committee will meet in January and February to finalize a school budget recommendation. The School Committee will deliver its recommended budget to the towns by March 31st.
What can you do to play a role in the budget process?
- Attend the School Committee’s meeting on November 29th at 7PM at the Buker Multi Purpose Room.
- Stay informed. Read the 5-Year Strategic Plan (posted on the School Committee’s website at www.hw-regional.k12.ma.us/sc/SchoolCommittee.htm.) Read the School Committee Annual Report when it arrives in the mail. Subscribe to the School Committee’s e-mail newsletter by sending an e-mail to newsletter@hwschools.net and noting “Subscribe” in the subject line.
The League of Women Voters will also be hosting a forum with Superintendent Marinel McGrath on December 4th from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. at the library to discuss current trends in education.
